Lasting Power of Attorney registration is now digital
The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) have spent the last few years modernising their Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) processes.
Last summer, the OPG introduced their ‘Use a lasting power of attorney service’ – an online service allowing donors and attorneys to share their details of lasting power of attorney (LPA) digitally. Paper copies are no longer needed. Donors and attorneys can share LPA details with an organisation by granting them access to an online summary.
Following the success of the OPGs online service, NS&I are now going to trial the new process for donors and attorneys wishing to share details of an LPA with NS&I. It is understood that this new process is only available to clients who have an English or Welsh LPA registered with the OPG on or after 1st September 2019.
NS&I is one of the largest saving organisations in the UK with 25 million customers and more than £202 billion invested – we see the move towards digital LPA services as an improvement in customer service and will help ease ongoing administration moving forwards.
